A quiet transformation, but one that makes a meaningful difference to the community.
CARTERSVILLE TRAIN DEPOT
Location: Cartersville, Georgia
There are never enough restrooms or parking spaces at events. We’ve all experienced the struggle, and know just how much it negatively impacts the overall experience. This was the case in Downtown Cartersville.
The area hosts farmers' markets and outdoor concerts, but has no public restrooms available. Our task was to introduce new amenities without disrupting the building’s charming historic character.
To do this, we added five new public restrooms on the first floor, including two that are fully wheelchair accessible. We also reworked the floorplan of the first floor to support the refreshed vision for the city museum and a new store showcasing local products.
But from the outside, you’d hardly notice things have changed.
To preserve the facade, restroom doors were placed into existing window openings. Every new material was carefully selected to match the original wood trim and doors.
These improvements make downtown feel more welcoming, and enhance its reputation as a destination rather than just a pit-stop (without enough restrooms!)

There were no unexpected challenges during our project. Though I imagine if there were, she would have handled them both professionally and with grace, which is the same way she approached everything else.
